My long and overdue update

I’m alive?

Barely. I’ve been sick the past week and hadn’t been doing much but laying around. Last week however, I actually did things! One day, me and my roommates decided to go check out universal studios, outside the park where the shops and restaurants are. We went to eat at bubba gumps and it was SO GOOD. I got a ton of shrimp I was in heaven.

The next day, on my day off, me and vaishali went to epcot for the day (again). We did a lot of things including meeting Mickey and Minnie! They also had the flower and garden sculptures and flower beds for the flower and garden festival!

Vaishali also went on test track for the first time ever!! she was so scared but eventually did it. It was the first time I went on the ride after it was renovated! It was awesome. We got a sweet picture of me laughing at V because she was so scared-

The next day me and V went to get pedicures and hang out with some of her coworkers. We have very similar work schedules so we get to spend a lot of time together!!

Unfortunately, I’m back working, but I’m pretty happy about it. Being home alone for 3 days got extremely boring and all I wanted to do was be busy. Now I’m back and regretting wishing it! It turns out closing dishes isn’t all that fun… But it’s all part of the dream! I’m really here, and really doing it and being part of the magic is definitely worth it 🙂

So I FINALLY have some good stuff to blog about after this weekend and my two days off 🙂

Saturday night, me and V went to applebee’s and then to the hookah lounge with a few of my work friends. It was a fun time!

On Sunday night, the night before my day off, a couple of my coworkers invited me to go to the House of Blues that night where they turn it into a club for the weekend. It was so much fun because a lot of people who work at Sunset were there and we got to take a huge group picture- it was so awesome. The DJ was really good and we had so much fun dancing!

The next day on my day off, me and V spent the day at animal kingdom! We had so much fun, and our other roommate Shakayla met up with us after she got out of work! We saw the parade, finding nemo the musical, went on the safari, and I even became a wilderness explorer!

 

Today I had a day to myself and had my 4 hour class again ew. Tomorrow I’m back to work sadly.

Valentine’s Day :)

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

So today I worked from 11:30-8 tonight!

I passed my assessment with flying colors (got a 94), and then I was thrown right into work! I did really awesome it was so good.

After I got home from work me, K-Lanie, Vaishali and Angie all went to applebee’s! It was so nice and we all dressed up!

Tomorrow I don’t have work until 12:30, so I’m excited about that. Two more days until my day off on Monday!!

Main Gates!!!

Today I went to work and trained at the bakery! I went in at 8:30 and was out at 5. It was a good day because I got to come home at a decent hour! After work me and a couple of my roommates caught the bus to walmart and went grocery shopping a bit… and I realized how much I missed my car and the luxury of a trunk. SO MANY BAGS TO HOLD!

I also got my main gate passes and guest passes for my visitors when I’m here 🙂

Currently, I’m baking valentine’s day cookies for my roommates 🙂 Sadly tomorrow I have to work until 8. Tomorrow I also have my assessment to officially “earn my ears.” WISH ME LUCK!

Even when I’m not working I’m working.

Another Monday started another week for my classes. I’m starting to get the hang of the online class, but the idea of going to my 4 hour Comm Class tomorrow tortures me.

Regardless that I am going to have to get some classwork done tomorrow, at least I had a good day off just relaxing!

I really wanted to make it to Animal Kingdom today, but since it closes early around 6ish, we just decided to go to Epcot when one of my roommates got out of work. I got to take a classic traditional sombrero hat picture in Mexico like me, my sister, and my pepe started. Then we kept the tradition going with my dad!

We also had dinner at a restaurant in Italy, and I got some authentic italian pasta… definitely worth the heartburn. WHERES MY TUMS.

Hopefully tomorrow I can motivate myself to have a good 4 hour class and I’ll be looking forward to actually going to work for a week before another one of those classes. ew.

Updates on how well my online history exam/4 hour class goes tomorrow.

Last day of my work week <33333333

Today was day 5 of my work week and I was so excited to get outta there…

I’m pretty drained, but as long as it doesn’t rain I won’t be having a miserable shift. Today was actually really good because my trainer was awesome and I was out by 6:30!

Tonight, me and a few of my roommates went to Magic Kingdom where we saw Mickey’s Electrical Parade and I FINALLY got an icecream cookie sandwich that I’ve been dying to try!

Besides that, I rode the teacups for the first time 🙂

Tomorrow I’m going to sleep in as long as I want and hopefully be going to animal kingdom for the day!

Margarita’s make magical moments

Basically today was 10x better than the past 2. I worked in several locations and trained at the produce stand! It was an easy day, and we got to taste test aka eat the pretzels, churros, and have frozen lemonade on our break! The park was open until 10 tonight, so sadly I had to extend my shift by an hour to close. As we were closing, a bunch of people tried rushing in to get last minute snacks while we had the tarp down, and one of our managers can’t really refuse service (it’s all about the $$$$$). The women were so happy they managed to get their frozen margaritas, that they were cheering when they left… We were all annoyed. Then our manager said “and that’s how you make magic happen.”

On that note, goodnight.
Last shift tomorrow before my couple of days off… YES!

Left to die at sunset.

As emotional as the title of this post may seem, it’s not. Today was yet my second crap day with this crap trainer who taught me crap. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy my role and where I work and the people I’ve met! Just the past couple of days I’ve had a trainer who isn’t so sure of exactly how to train. I feel bad saying it because I do give her some credit… It’s just she was playing too close to the book and I envied everyone else and their cool trainers.

As for the title, “working at sunset” can mean a ton of different things. My first day trainers said that working on sunset blvd means “working your butt off more than anyone else at WDW and not getting the credit or money you deserve” to “if you can make it at sunset you can make it anywhere.” The best was when I was told that if you’re giving your location a hard time and causing trouble somewhere else, they will deport you to sunset where they will “leave you there to die.” Thankfully I don’t fall into that category, and I’m having a ball learning the ropes at sunset. Even though it’s just feeding the guests, interacting with them, and creating “magical moments,” food makes people happy. And as long as the job gets done efficiently then you’re doing it right!

Tomorrow’s another day of training sadly, but it’s one less day till my day off!

Ps this post is dedicated to my dad- because he thought it was funny that if you can make it at sunset you can make it anywhere.

Today was training day 3 and I worked in the front and it was okay. My trainer had no idea what was going on…

But I’m over it because I got paid for being there and that was great!

There’s not much to post about today, but I did learn one thing –

EPCOT secretly stands for Every Paycheck Comes On Thursday 🙂

Rosie’s Front

I didn’t do much today besides waking up and going to work!

Today was day 2 of actual training on site and I was training for the front of Rosie’s! Basically I learned how to use the registers and fill orders. I loved being in the front and getting to talk to guests. It made it that much more fun, and the crew I got to work with today was loads of fun! I’m not sure how I’ll be blogging every day if days are just me working, but hopefully I’ll have something to write about. I was able to give out “magic moment cupcakes” to some lucky young guests to create a magical moment that they’ll never forget!

Hollywood studios had “extra magic hours” where the park hours extend for a bit longer. Tonight the park was open till 10ish, and sadly instead of being out at 8, we had to extend our shift until 11. Thankfully because I was sent in with the intention of leave at 8, I was making overtime for the extra hours!

I’ll be working yet again tomorrow so I’m gunna need real rest!
